A taxi in Hong Kong can be spotted at all hours, day or night, in nearly every location.  Some areas have designated taxi stands, but hailing a cab from the side of the road is permitted in most places.

Hong Kong taxis come in three colors:  red, green, and blue.  The fare is $18 for the first 2 kilometers and then $1.40 every 200 meters after that.

Blue taxis are only seen on Lantau Island.  If tunnels are used during any journey then the passenger will be expected to cover the fee.
